I think it’s safe to say 2016 was the year of poke (it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere in 2017, either). And if there is any city to be living in right now for endless poke access it’s definitely New York City, one of the highlight spots being POKEE in the West Village.
POKEE is perfect for either a quick to-go type deal if you’re in the mood for some fast fresh seafood lunch, and in the evening it transforms into a more romantic scene with candlelight to accompany rare Japanese beverages that aren’t commonly seen (YES: that means sake!).
I was lucky enough to attend a tasting of a few of the dishes offered, and I must say the proof was in the sushi so to speak as the meat quality was beyond my expectations and really had the freshest taste I’ve experienced of the poke dish so far.
If you’re curious about the up-and-coming raw phenomenon, definitely give POKEE a try; you will be surprised at the boldness of the rainbow of flavors and also impressed by the accompanied decor.
