Something about Gaga and Tony Bennett’s Cheek to Cheek makes us love everything in the world

“The world’s gone mad today and good’s bad today and day’s night today and black’s white today and most guys toady that women prize today are just silly jiggalos”

The thing about sitting at certain types of cafes is that you can always expect to be hearing a calm historic jazz ensemble somewhere in the background, and to my surprise the other night what I thought could be an Ella Fitzgerald throwback was actually the Pop Queen herself Miss Lady Gaga, rocking out with the jazz superstar Tony Bennett Cheek to Cheek as if they had been doin’ the damn thing est. 1920.

The perfection of this album really shows the stretch of Gaga’s magical capabilities in the musical realm and why she’s pretty much my favorite human on this Earth – taking something old and somewhat nostalgic in our culture over-dominated by the inevitable, shall I say it, more electronic and rap-focused scene, and producing a throwback album with uhhh jazz legend TONY FREAKING BENNETT.

Listening to the album in full one feels the desire to want to bust out my old records and have a full on jazz session included with complimentary items from the lavish and booze-filled scene birthed right here in America. So buy a bottle of whisky, find somewhere to sulk, and get into #CheektoCheek-ing it out.
